Job Responsibilities :

  • Purpose of the Role - To drive and monitor the production process as per established process in order to meet quality and production targets within committed schedule, quality norms and timelines in close partnership with relevant stakeholders

  • Operations -

- Plan & manage shift wise production activities and monitor as per planning and instructions by Plant Head and Production Lead

- Ensure timely availability of raw materials in the plant to carry out planned production activities and get raw materials verified by QA department

- Monitor the consumption of raw materials and utilities required for production shift wise

- Conduct regular plant rounds to monitor and troubleshoot all process parameters and equipment condition, supervise operational activities, instruct operators, etc.

- Plan for manpower allocation and drive interdepartmental communication for smooth and safe operations

- Prepare plant shift reports, communicate timely with plant manager to update the status and ensure that batch sheets / log sheets are properly filled with relevant data

- Highlight exceptions in parameters (both positive and negative) which affect product quality to the production lead and implement suggestions to minimize deviations

- Utilize all OMPRO snippets for capturing plant process paramters and asset details.

- Maintain specification with respect to plant operating parameters, lab analysis, equipment operating envelop and report deviation and take corrective action in case of any deviation.

- Monitor and update plant optimizer continuously, for optimum plant operation, as applicable

  • Workplace Safety & Environment -

- Follow all production related safety, fire and environmental processes and compliance norms and ensure all operations align wit the same in order to provide safe working environment to all plant personnels

- Ensure all shift crew follows the laid down safety procedures and highlight any deviation to plant head

- Ensure availability of all plant safety equipments like PSVs, F&G equipments at all the times and report any deviation / abnormality for correction

- Review cases of any potential safety, fire and environmental issues/ hazards, identify root cause, highlight to Production Lead and take appropriate steps to mitigate any challenges

- Investigate minor safety incidents along with Safety teams, draft action plans and implement the same to ensure non-recurrence

- Track all compliance/ legal norms and documentations required from safety, fire and environmental point of view and ensure up to date filing of the same

- Support emergency operations in case of any safety or fire incidents, and coordinate with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure quick closure

  • Incidence Management & Maintenance  -

- Act as Incident command control until arrival of Service and Support Managers and conduct root cause analysis for incidents thereby initiating corrective and preventative action

- Liaison with Maintenance team for un-interrupted operations by ensuring that break down and preventive maintenance is done regularly and machines/equipments are in good condition leading to speedy recovery of production after any plant breakdowns

- Ensure effective utilization of OMPro tool to manage alarms, communications and data efficiently

  • Compliance & Audits -

- Ensure all environmental, safety and health guidelines are followed in the shift and highlight any deviations

- Prepare team for audit readiness with internal and external auditors, take corrective actions in case of any red flags

- Ensure the production process is compliant with the Standard Operating Procedures defined

  • Policies, Processes and Procedures -

- Assist in formulation of the production plan and ensure day-to-day execution in line with function standards & regulations

- Implement new initiatives/ projects as per established policies to meet future requirements of the production process

- Provide inputs for improvements in business processes, specifications and best practices

  • People Management  -

- Participate in recruitment activities & ensure retention / engagement of own team

- Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities

- Evaluate training and development requirements for own team and make recommendations for learning interventions

 

Education Requirement :

  • Necessary: - Bachelors degree in Engineering/Technology (Chemical)

Experience Requirement :

  • Necessary: - 5 to 9 years of relevant experience
  • Desired:

- Knowledge of plant unit operation and processes

- Understanding of plant control system (DCS / PLC)

- Understanding emergency system (ERCP, PIP, F&G system)

- Knowledge of system tools like OMPRO, SAP, Production Accounting System (PAS), etc.

- Understanding of Fire, Safety and Environmental procedures

- Planning and decision-making skills

- Good technical skills

- Problem solving and analytical ability
