Manage a set of assigned research tasks including benchmarking of targets, compilation of research data related to the assigned research and development processes while meeting time targets and ensuring regulatory compliances including ISO, NABL and Internal Management system.
Manage and execute lab and scale-up activities for research and development, cost reduction, value addition and new invention where activities involve synthesis, analytical testing & methodology creation, formulation & product development.
Ensure/validate reproducibility of experimental data produced
Organize/Manage facilities for experiments for synthesis, compounding, characterization and evaluation and the scale up.
Work on existing or modify/ invent method development for solving the assigned task in timely manner.
Creation of SOPs for lab and scale up experiments.
Review and validation of experiments and methodologies including analysis and test methods carried out using standard test methods / authenticated samples during the testing
Ensure achievement of set milestones for lab / scale-up studies
Compile / edit draft technical reports/manuscripts for publication and IP
Manage proper disposal of chemical waste generated in laboratory and pilot plant experiments
Coordinate safety processes such as PHA (process hazard analysis) and PSSR (Prestart up safety review), Risk analysis of new and existing protocols of testing/analysis, MOC (management of change) etc.
Ensure Compliance within one#s area
Assume responsibility for high and consistent scientific excellence associated with pertinent Cultivation Engineering R&D initiatives, including all aspects of research planning, execution, interpretation, and documentation.
Working closely with the L1 and HOD (as required), contribute to strategic planning covering the full scope of algae cultivation system design, improvement of productivity through optimization of operating procedure and scale-up.
Assume responsibility and ensure laboratory and environmental safety, as well as regulatory compliance in all aspects of job performance associated with his/her research.
Lead (by word and example) in fully embracing and practicing Reliance V&B.
Ensure and validate significance and reproducibility of experimental data produced.
Remain updated on work reported elsewhere relevant to assigned task and coverage areas – carrying out periodic internet, technical literature, and patent searches as appropriate.
Create new R&D approaches, equipment/ processes, and protocols – including new SOPs as warranted – for laboratory, prototype, and scaled-up pilot experiments.
Develop and apply analytical and diagnostic tools for the monitoring algal growth, both in coordination with outside resources (labs, vendors, etc.) and, as required, as internally-driven R&D initiatives.
Assist in establishing and maintaining key external technology contacts (e.g.: vendors, research partners, consultants, academic contacts) as associated with research activities.
Lead in the identification, documentation, and pursuit of formal IP opportunities arising from work efforts; stay closely abreast of published IP, technical literature, and industry updates associated with A2O.
As requested, assist in the preparation of budgets, budget performance reports, project definition and monitoring tools (Central Planning), and standard R&D operating protocols.
Integrate pertinent research results into A2O techno-economic modeling (TEM) efforts, and contribute directly to the interpretation and strategic implications determination of the same.
Synthesize and deliver technical progress updates for key A2O stakeholders as required.
Represent RIL A2O as required at conference events.
Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)
Deep expertise in reaction engineering, and/or biochemical engineering R&D – as well as R&D planning and documentation
Pertinent fundamentals of statistical relevance
HS&E understanding, commitment, and leadership by example
Understanding and facility with techno-economic modeling techniques, outputs, and significance
Research planning, monitoring, reporting and documentation practices
Deep immersion in, and demonstrated practice of all Reliance V&Bs
Highly skilled (effective and efficient) communicator; demonstrated team player
Key Attributes (Experience and Qualifications)
Minimum 4 yrs hands -on experience closely relevant to the requirements for the position
Minimum 2 yrs experience with Reliance, ideally in the A2O effort
